We’re Barbara and Tómas, and we would like to welcome you to our house here in Kangerluk.

The house is a tribute to life off the beaten path—where comfort meets wilderness, and every guest gets a chance to experience the silence, solitude, and glimpse of Greenlandic life.

We’ve both worked as guides in the Arctic, sharing our knowledge and passion with guests longing for authentic experiences —Tómas based in Iceland, and Barbara in Greenland and Svalbard. Tómas is a registered emergency nurse with experience in wilderness medicine, while Barbara is a risk management researcher collaborating with Arctic guiding communities to improve safety education and guide training.

Barbara has been living and working in Greenland since 2018.

We spend our winters skiing and our summers hiking and enjoying slow-paced lifestyle and immersing ourselves in Greenlandic culture. Here on Disko Island is where our hearts feel most at home.

Kangerluk holds a special place in our hearts. Small but rich, it’s at the center of everything—a close-knit island where our friends live, where dogsleds carry us to distant places in winter and kayaks glide through summer waters, all while nature gently sets the rhythm of our Arctic days. We treasure traditional knowledge—carefully harvested over generations—and Kangerluk is where we want to share it with others. Our hope is to pass on this wisdom to all who visit, keeping the heritage alive.

We’re passionate about simple living, sharing Arctic nature, and offering others a glimpse into life on the edge of the map. Whether you’re here to explore, rest, or learn—we’re happy to welcome you into our home.
